Each service below lists exactly what's included, so you know what you're booking. These prices are for a coat in good condition — heavy matting or a dog who needs extra time can add to it, and you'll always hear about that before I start, never after.

Double Coat Bath & Brush

Best for double-coated breeds that benefit from additional brushing and deshedding.

This service includes a bath, blow dry, thorough brush out, deshedding treatment, nail trim, ear cleaning, and finishing touches to help reduce shedding and keep the coat healthy — the deshedding is the part that cuts down on what ends up on your floors. No haircut or trimming is included — on purpose. Clipping a double coat can permanently damage how it grows back, and it doesn't reduce shedding. Complimentary teeth brushing is available upon request.

With every service: teeth brushing is complimentary — just ask. Anal glands are expressed if needed. I stay away from ear plucking unless your veterinarian has specifically recommended it for your dog.

Questions

Common questions

How does pricing work?
  • Weight sets the tier, coat sets the rest. A well-maintained standard poodle can take less time than a badly matted small dog. Listed prices are for a coat in good condition.
  • Regular clients pay less. A coat that's brushed at home and groomed on a schedule is faster to work through. Matting is what drives cost up, and it's almost entirely preventable.
  • You'll never be surprised. If your dog's coat needs more work than the booking accounted for, you get a call before it happens — not a bigger number at pickup.
  • Extra handling time is priced honestly, not punitively. A dog who needs more breaks needs more time. That's not a penalty, it's what the appointment actually costs.
  • Cash and check are welcome, with no extra charge. Card payments carry a processing fee of $2.50–$3.50, passed through from the card networks.
How often should my dog be groomed?

It depends entirely on the coat. Doodles and other continuously growing coats often need every 4–6 weeks to stay ahead of matting. Double-coated breeds do well every 8–12 weeks. Short, smooth coats can go longer. You'll get an honest recommendation for your specific dog — not a sales pitch.

What's the difference between Bath, Brush & Neaten and Body Contour?

A Neaten tidies just the edges — face, feet, tail, and feathering — while the body coat stays untouched. A Body Contour is an all-over shaping: my scissors go over the whole dog to clean up the silhouette while keeping the coat's length. If you just want the scruffy bits cleaned up, book the Neaten. If you want the whole outline shaped but still fluffy, that's the Contour.

Can you shave my double-coated dog?

I don't clip or shave double coats — huskies, shepherds, goldens, Poms, and their relatives. Shaving can permanently change how that coat grows back, it removes their built-in insulation against both heat and cold, and it doesn't actually stop the shedding. The Double Coat Bath & Brush with deshedding is what genuinely helps. The rare exception is a medical or severe matting situation, and that's a conversation we'd have together first.

What's the difference between Custom Cut and Body Contour?

A Custom Cut shortens the whole coat — one length all over, or a specific style. Body Contour keeps the coat's natural length and shapes the outline instead: feet, tail, feathering, chest, and body line. For double-coated breeds that shouldn't be clipped down, Body Contour is almost always the right answer.

What's the difference between Face, Feet & Fanny and a Custom Cut?

Face, Feet & Fanny is maintenance — the face, feet, and sanitary areas are tidied and the body coat is left completely alone. A Custom Cut is a full haircut over the whole dog. If your dog's body coat is still in good shape but they can't see and their feet are shaggy, Face, Feet & Fanny is what you want, and it costs less.

Do you express anal glands?

Yes, if needed — it's included with any grooming service, no extra charge.

Do you pluck ears?

Generally no. Ear plucking can cause irritation and inflammation in a lot of dogs, so I stay away from it unless your veterinarian has specifically recommended it for your dog. Ear cleaning is included with every service.

My dog is anxious or has had a bad grooming experience. Can you help?

That's exactly the kind of dog this business was built for. Start with the complimentary Meet & Greet — your dog comes in, looks around, gets treats, and goes home with nothing asked of them. There's no charge for it, and it makes a real difference to how the first appointment goes. Mention the history when you book so I can plan around it.

What if my dog is badly matted?

Brushing out a tight mat is painful and, past a certain point, unsafe. In those cases a shave-down is the humane choice. You'll always get a call and an explanation before that decision is made — the coat grows back, and I'll help you build a routine so it doesn't happen again.

Do you groom puppies? How young?

The Puppy Intro Groom is built for puppies 4–8 months old, and the earlier you start the better. Nothing gets forced — the goal is simply that they leave thinking the whole thing was fine. Younger than four months, book a complimentary Meet & Greet instead.

Do you take senior dogs or dogs with medical issues?

Yes, with care. Seniors and dogs with health conditions often do best with shorter, more frequent visits rather than one long session. Let me know about mobility issues, medications, or medical history when you book.

What's your cancellation policy?

At least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Inside 24 hours is 25% of the scheduled groom; a no-show is 50%. Full details on the policies page.
